You are so tiny and fragile. During your first week, we had lots of visitors. Everyone is smitten with you...us too! You are our dream come true! You love to be held. You love to sleep during the day and you are extremely hard to wake up to nurse. You fall asleep while nursing every time...except for the night time. You nurse and then you are wide awake. Oh my, we have our work cut out for us!
You still fall asleep while nursing almost every day during the day. At night, you nurse and then you are wide awake. You daddy is amazing at helping mommy. We take shifts during the night because you are up so much.
We are hoping to get you on a better schedule soon. I think you just have your nights and days mixed up, so hopefully we will get that corrected soon! You smirk and smile quite a bit when we tickle your face! I LOVE IT!You had your 2 week check-up today. The first few days of your life you lost 1 lb. We have been trying to get you back up to your birth weight...you aren't quite there yet. Today you weighed 8 lbs 6.8 ozs. We are getting you there...slowly but surely! I think you aren't there yet because you sleep so much while nursing. We have tried everything to wake you up. Cold rags, stripping you down to your diaper, tickling your feet, EVERYTHING! I think you are just a tad bit on the high maintenance side- which I am afraid you get from your mommy! Oops!
We love you so much! You are our dream come true. We are truly blessed and thankful to the One who gave you to us. We couldn't be happier!
Now for a few more photos!
This was your first outing outside. We went for a ride down to the pond and back.

That was fun to read! My baby did the same thing, she had her days and nights mixed up. She was 8 weeks old before she caught on. I just loved it all, the good and the bad. You do too! Haha!
love the pictures! she is an adorable baby. keep your chin up and know that the zombie/lack-of-sleep phase will soon pass!
The pictures are so precious! She is absolutely adorable!!
HOW ADORABLE!! And I love those bumpers for the crib!! My daughter was on a pretty good schedule when she got home, but she was in the NICU for quite a while before coming home. I hope you get some sleep soon!!

Beautiful! I especially like the pictures with the weekly signs--my family did the same for my brothers and me when we were little, and I plan to do the same thing for our Baby Girl. Glad you're doing well!
I cracked up at the diaper thing. Eden screams too. I bet they can feel our stress! Do you think we will always worry? haha.
She is so cute! Aedan did the same thing during diaper changes when he was only a few weeks old. Good grief I felt like I was hurting him or something just by changing his diaper. But like everything its just a phase and it will pass. :)
She is gorgeous!!! I love her two week picture. So precious
I loved reading about Ayla's first two weeks. She is such a little doll!
I was going to suggest the cold rag thing but you are ahead of the game and have already tried it. haha
The other thought I had was maybe you are eating or drinking something with caffeine in it. It is crazy what the mama eats or drinks effects the baby. Just a thought. I promise I'm not judging you just trying to think of what is keeping your little angel up. You are her mama you know her best! Besides, I'm sure you have already had the same thought. :-)
I was only able to nurse my son for two weeks. I had toxemia and high blood pressure. My issues were causing the jaundice my son had to not get better. They had me stop nursing and when they told me I could start nursing again I was like NO way! I had to be back at work when he was 6 weeks old so I didn't want to have to worry about him not taking the bottle while I was at work. Blake was a premi. He was 5#3oz when he was born came home at 4#14oz. Now he is 5'11" tall and 175-185 pounds heading off to college on Aug. 19th. I’m getting choked up just thinking about it.
You love that baby girl and hold her as much as you can because once they start moving they don’t want to sit and let mommy stare at their sweet face.
I wish nothing but the best for you and your family.
In Him,
Jackie
Hi Sarah!
Be encouraged!! My babies were up all hours for the first 9 to 10 weeks. It was SO HARD!! But, soon they figured it out. Ayla will too!! Dave & I did the same thing, we took shifts and I remember feeling so hopeless that we would ever get to crawl into bed together for the night again. Those early weeks are just rough for sleep deprivation, but it gets so much better.
Also we went through that too with nursing. We had to strip them down naked and tickle their feet in the early weeks. But if you want to keep nursing -STICK WITH IT!!! I am so glad I did!! She will get the hang of it and wake up more as she gets older. in fact, I am nursing right now as I type this! =)
If you have any questions, need to vent or just need encouragementm email me!
You are doing great!!!!
