New Appointment

Today began our new journey with our new fertility specialists! We were very excited to begin this new step in our journey. We arrived at our new clinic at around 2:15. We began by filling out more paperwork and then were sent back to the consultation area to discuss all our medical history with our new IVF nurse. At this clinic- they give you a nurse and that is the nurse you will have the entire time. Unless she is sick or out of the office, you will always have her. That way, she knows all our medical history and knows all about me. I absolutely loved that. At the other clinic, you never knew who you would see, if they would really know you and so forth. So, we discussed all our past history with Katie. We then took our pictures b/c they want to put a face with names when they call you with instructions and results etc. I thought that was GREAT!

Let me also say this clinic is beautiful. It is very nice and very high-tech! I loved it! After we finished all the history forms and such, we were sent back to the waiting area to wait for our appointment with Dr. Kevin. Once we got back, we met in his office and he'd already been going over my info from the past clinic etc. for quite sometime. The first thing he said to me was "Girl, you have been through so much!" I was like "No kidding!"

So, long story short...
1. I have to have another HSG- even though we know I have only one working tube, but at the other place, there was fluid in my uterus and there should not have been. Dr. Kevin is concerned that the bad tube may have adheared back together and leaking fluid back into the uterus. He said he is also concerned that there was the fluid and that there is no reason it should have been there...so something is a little off. Have I mentioned- I hate HSG's!!!!! But, you do whatcha gotta do! I will call when I start and schedule the HGS there at the clinic in a few weeks. I wanted to go there to do it- so they can be the ones who perform it and have all the data and info right there with them!

2. Stuart looks amazing- that is what the lab nurse said- He had 426 million with 97% motility- which apparantly is fabulous. Anything over 20 was normal and he was 426! So, that is great! They will freeze the sperm and run another test on Wednesday to check the DNA and chromosomes etc. just to be sure his arthritis medicine hasn't done anything! They only need 1 vial to check and he has 12. So, we will have 11 vials in storage- which is even more awesome b/c we wanted some in case the meds start harming the sperm. So that was great!

3. Once everything is clearned we will proceed with IVF- and they are changing quite a few things. First, my levels from the first 2 cycles were too high for someone with 1 ovary. Plus, I had so many follicles that it was cutting off blood flow to all the others- so if we lower the number of eggs- we should get a MUCH, MUCH better quality. Dr. Kevin seems to know so much more than the other place. We will be doing a Day 5 transfer. They really only stand by day 5's. He thinks we should have great eggs this time with slowing down the stim and changing some meds. We are very at peace and feel great about this decision.

So...come on mother nature and let's get this thing crackin! Once the period starts- it will be time for HSG! Not excited but ready to get this going! We are very excited. I will be starting prescription prenatal vitamins immediately- he said they must be prescription! And then once the period starts- I will start the pill and get ready for IVF #3! This is the shortened version of today. We arrived at the clinic at 2:15 and left at 5:45! Wonderful and productive day! We were glad to spend every minute there.

Keep praying for guidance and wonderful results and news!

I found your blog through Kelly's Korner...I've been reading for awhile but have never left a comment. Anyway, I'm so glad you had such a great experience at the new clinic! We are beginning some fertility treatments and I had an HSG done a few months ago...ugh, I hated it! Know that you are in my prayers!

Everything sounds very encouraging. My RE did my HSG and LAP, and I thought it was great that he had all the info that he needed, rather than someone else doing it and not including all the necessary info in the report... Good luck!
