20 Weeks Old

Ayla, you are growing so fast that our hearts melt every time we look at you. You are 20 weeks old! That is so hard to believe!!

Last week was a rough week for you. You were very sick. It was our first experience with a sick baby. I will tell you that when you are sick...mommy and daddy are sick too. You started off with congestion and diarrhea. Then you kept the diarrhea and started not to eat much at all. You normally eat at 8, 12, 4 and 8. At those feedings, you would not eat more than 1 or 2 ounces. This is rough because you will normally eat 6-7 ounces. We took you to the doctor a few times. He said to give you Pedialyte, dilute Gatorade, Sprite, anything that we could get you to drink. You needed liquids. You would not drink any of those. We finally ended up taking you to the ER Saturday night because you started to get lethargic and you still wouldn't eat. We got there and they admitted you. It was awful seeing you hurt. They had to give you an IV. You screamed and cried. Mommy held you and cried with you. The nurses were so nice to you. It melted my heart to hear the nurses talk about you and say that you are so beautiful that you look like a porcelain doll! You stole everyone's heart. We got you up to a room and then they started your IV fluids. You didn't sleep well at all in the hospital. Neither did we.

Sunday you started to perk up some. They gave you IV fluids all Saturday night and all day Sunday. We got to bring you home late Sunday afternoon. It was so nice to get home! You started eating in the hospital on Sunday and continued to eat and have good intake and outtake so we were praying you would continue that at home. The doctor gave you some soy formula to help with your tummy issues. It stinks! The soy is a gross smell but if it makes you feel better then we will deal with a stinky smelling formula.

You are so much better! You are eating again, playing again, cooing, talking and laughing again! We missed our sweet happy girl!

You are still wearing mainly 3-6 month clothes now. The 0-3 months still fit in the width but you are too long for them!

You love looking at Christmas decorations! You are mommy's girl for sure! We walked around Wal-Mart and you just stared at the Christmas trees! We still haven't got Daddy to get ours down from the attic yet. All the decorations are up but not our tree yet! Hopefully he will soon because I can't wait to decorate it with you!

When we stop feeding you to burp you throw an amazing fit! We are definitely going to have to get this on camera. I believe we will play it at your wedding one day to embarrass you. It is quite amazing the set of lungs you have! That is another thing the nurses kept saying...is that you have one set of pipes! They said you sounded like a toddler screaming and not a baby crying! I told them..."Believe me, I know"! Ha

You are growing so fast and we look forward to watching change everyday!

I rarely ever comment (okay, I dont think I have since you found out you were pregnant)--but Ayla is seriously just DARLING! I have a baby girl a few weeks older then her (maybe a month or so? She's 6 months) Anyway, her little face is just too sweet. Had to tell you :)
